Reason #426 Why I Hate PC Gaming: A Rant

I have many reasons why I despise PC gaming and prefer Console Gaming. The latest one to get added to the list: License Keys.

What’s so bad about license keys? Glad you asked. Let me set up a couple of examples for you:

I recently bought Portal 2 for my Xbox 360. It cost me approximately $60. For that $60, I have been able to play, my wife has been able to play, and my son has been able to play. If my second cousin twice removed came for a visit, he could also play, as could some stranger off the street, should I decide to invite him into my home to do so.

On the other hand, I just bought Darkspore on the PC. It cost me approximately $50. For that $50, I can play. If my wife wants to play, it costs another $50. If my son wants to play, it costs another $50. If my second cousin twice removed wants to play, it costs ANOTHER $50! And I should mention that this is not just to be able to play multiplayer together; this is what it costs to even be able to play single-player. Games which require multiple purchases for multiplayer I can understand, but to be able to play single-player?

…And people wonder why piracy is so rampant on the PC!
